Colourful Semantics Picture Resources: 6 colour-coded sentence strips and 6 colour-block question pictures + 27 matching colour-coded pictures + bucket with 12 dinosaur counters + places baseboard and 2 sets of 10 dinosaur number pictures + add and subtract sentences baseboards.
These resources have been designed to help your child learn words for: numbers 1-10, ‘the same’, ‘more’, ‘fewer’,‘one more’, ‘one less’, ‘add’, ‘subtract’, ‘equals’.
The games work on Early Years Maths Targets Numbers N18 to N27 inclusive (40-60 months): Say which number is one more or one less than a given number; using quantities and objects add and subtract two single digit numbers and count on or back to find the answer.
The colour-block question pictures introduce your child to the colour-coding used: introduce by asking the question then choosing a picture with the same-coloured dot to answer it (e.g.’What Like? Or ‘How Many?’ -> Four”, ‘What doing?’ -> “add”).
The 27 matching colour-coded pictures are introduced by categorising them onto/under the matching question picture.
The colour-coded sentence strips are used to help your child form sentences to comment on what they can see and to give instructions using Maths concepts, and the 12 dinosaur counters are used in the games to help your child learn these concepts. The dinosaurs are placed either on the ‘water’ or the ‘grass’, to match the dinosaur number pictures of 1-10 dinosaur symbols in the water/grass.
The adding and subtracting baseboards are used to help your child match a picture of 5 dinosaurs to the number 5, and then to add or subtract another number.
These picture resources are recommended for children with delayed language and children with autism as the colour-coding supports development of language and maths concepts.
