Bumper Nativity Pack: Flap Book with I Can See Commenting and Playset with Story Sequencing and I Want Requesting

“Nativity” Board Book + I can see strips with tips for use + Book of 51 picture symbols and advice sheet.

The Board book is brand new, measures approximately 17cm x 18cm, and has 6 double pages with a big flap on each page to open, a ‘spy hole’ on each page and lots of animals, people, places and objects to comment on. The story simply tells the Nativity and allows for repetition of the names for the main characters and objects in the familiar story: MARY, JOSEPH, BABY JESUS, BETHLEHEM/TOWN, INNKEEPER, STABLE, MANGER, HAY, DONKEY, ANGEL, SHEPHERDS, WISE MEN, STAR, PRESENTS.

The ‘I can see’ strips are detachable, and are attached with velcro to an A4 sheet backed with card, giving tips on how to use each one to comment.

The picture symbol book has 3 pages of A4 laminated card, and the picture symbols are attached to each side using Velcro dots. There are 51 picture symbols in total, to help your child use and understand words for PEOPLE, ANIMALS, PLACES, LIGHT, and NUMBERS. They are sorted under their category name label on each page of the picture symbol book.

This pack will help your child to comment on what they can see (‘BABY JESUS’), to expand commenting into phrases (‘I CAN SEE DONKEY’), and to use longer phrases (I CAN SEE 3 WISE MEN’ or ‘I CAN SEE 10 SHEEP’)

The Nativity Playset includes 19 separate pieces with 15 little blue stands. The pieces are made from sturdy reinforced card: each character/animal measures a maximum of 6cm high or 6cm wide and slots onto a little blue stand; the stable comes in 4 separate pieces that slot together. The Playset features the following:

Mary, Joseph, donkey, innkeeper, stable, Baby Jesus, angel, shepherd, sheep, wise men, camel.

The story sequencing cards are laminated onto backing card and measure approximately 10cm by 10.5cm. There are 2 sets of 6 cards, 1 set using pictures, 1 set using photos of the Playset characters, both with the same simple text beneath. These can be used for ‘Snap’ or ‘Pairs’ as well as to support sequencing of the Nativity story.

There is an A4 baseboard, with 12 photo symbols of the Playset pieces (each measuring approximately 5cm x 5cm), and an ‘I want’ strip. These are used to request each piece and then to recreate each of the photo story sequencing scenes.

Finally there is an A5 laminated advice sheet. On one side are tips for using the resources, and on the other side is a separate ‘Help’ symbol.

These resources are designed to support the understanding and use of vocabulary related to the Nativity, using requesting and story sequencing activities.

This bumper set is recommended for children with delayed language, children with autism and children learning English.
