“I Want My Hat Back” board book + picture cards + tips to help your child understand and use ‘Big’ and ‘Little’, ‘Round’ and ‘Pointy’, ‘Red and ‘Blue’, animals and ‘No..’ in language up to and including the 4 word level.
The book is a brand new board book measuring approximately 5.5” x 8” and has 32 pages telling the story - all in simple dialogue - of a bear looking for his hat.
The picture cards are A5 size of a bear, a deer and a rabbit (who all feature in the story); there are 8 different hats attached to 2 x A5 baseboards with Velcro dots and 4 different boots on another baseboard; the baseboards have clearly labelled frames e.g. ‘big blue round hat’, ‘little red boot’.
There are 36 picture instruction cards, featuring each of the hats and boots on each of the animals.
There is a pack of 16 Snap/Pairs cards: a tortoise and a snake (both featured in the story) are pictured with different coloured hats and ‘no hat’.
There are 2 sets of 4 sequencing cards showing the main points in the story where the rabbit and then the bear tell a lie.
NB The colour of the baseboards or backing card for all picture resources may vary.
The resources are designed to help children understand and use language up to the 4 word level (put the LITTLE BLUE BOOT on the DEER, put the BIG RED ROUND hat on the RABBIT, put the LITTLE BLUE POINTY hat on the BEAR etc).
Finally there is an advice sheet, with tips for using the resources to boost your child’s speech and language, gained from my 30 years work as a Speech and Language Therapist (now retired).
All the picture resources and the TIPS sheet are laminated with Matt non-reflective plastic.
The picture resources and advice sheet fit into an A4 popper bag, labelled with a brown parcel tag, for convenience and durability.
This resource extends the language-boosting potential of a great book with a funny story and twist, using picture games that work well for children with delayed language, for children with autism, and for children learning English as an additional language.
