New Mr Potato Head toys + photo symbol book with Help and I Want Symbols + Storyboard Base + 2 sets of story pictures + tips for use.
The Mr Potato Head toy set is brand new. It comes with 27 pieces: 2 bodies, 2 pairs of arms, 2 pairs of eyes, 2 mouths (1 with beard), 1 pair of ears, 1 nose, 1 pair of feet, 2 hats, 1 pair of shoes, a crown, a helmet, sword, shield, bow and arrows, belt, plume and torch. The big body is the standard size Mr Potato Head and has the traditional storage compartment at the back, holes for eyes, nose and mouth at the front, and 3 holes on each side of the body for choice of placement of the ears and arms; the small body has eyes, nose, mouth and ears in place already, but holes for placement of arms, feet, hat and accessories.
The toys come in the original blue plastic box with a handle at the top, measuring approximately 22cm wide x 29cm long x 11cm high, and labelled with a ‘Knight Story Pack’ picture.
The photo symbol book has a title page and 4 content pages, all A5 backed with card and laminated with Matt non-reflective plastic. NB THE COLOUR OF THE BACKING CARD MAY VARY.
The title page contains 4 character ideas: KNIGHT, DRAGON, KING, ARCHER; in the content pages there are 24 photo symbols - also laminated in Matt - attached to each page with Velcro dots, compatible with other PECS products (Picture Exchange Communication System). The book is bound with a treasury tag so each page can lay open as pictured.
This book will help your child make clear choices and build their vocabulary of body parts and some clothes and accessories.
The ‘Help’ symbol and the ‘I Want’ sentence strip are both detachable and are presented each on a separate A5 page explaining how to use them.
There is an A4 Storyboard backed with card with colour-coded boxes for ‘Beginning’ (Title, Setting, Problem), ‘Middle’ (What happened 1-3), and ‘Ending’.
There are 2 sets of simple example story pictures for the Knight and Dragon and the King and Archer: each story has 9 colour-coded pictures to place on the appropriate box and then act out with the toys - and there is a choice of 3 endings for each story.
The Storyboard is laminated so it can also be used with a marker pen to draw or write your child’s own ideas for a story, and then act out with the characters.
There is also an A5 page of tips with general advice: on 1 side are tips for picture exchange, and on the other side are tips for using the storyboard and stories.
All activities have been tried and tested with children with language delay and children with autism.
All the picture and photo resources fit into an A4 zipped bag labelled with a brown parcel tag and ‘Knight Story Pack’ picture.
