This pack is designed to be used with the ‘Peace at Last’ book, which is not included with this pack.
It can be used without the book. However, note that the 10 story sequencing pictures - while covering the main sensory points of the book - do not replicate the text.
The Story Sequencing Pictures are A5 in size, laminated and backed in card. On the back of each is a list of the sensory objects needed, actions to perform/encourage, and any dialogue.
There are sounds that can be performed without objects: yawning, snoring, humming, animal sounds. These are indicated in the ‘actions to perform/encourage’ on each card.
The 14 Sensory Objects are chosen to emphasise the actions in this story. Half of the objects are auditory, 1 is a scent object and the rest are tactile/visual objects. The objects are as follows (with action suggested in brackets):
Bear - furry bear glove (yawning, stomping upstairs)
Aeroplane - foam glider plane 19cm x 19cm assembled (flying)
Tick-Tock (clock) - football rattle 12cm high (tick-tocking)
Drip Drip (tap) - wooden drumstick 21cm long (dripping)
Owl - mini LED owl keychain approximately 5cm high with push button for light up eyes and sound (owl hooting)
Hedgehog - wooden scrubbing brush 9cm long (hedgehog bristles)
Cat - wooden pastry brush 18cm long (cat’s whiskers)
Bird - RSPB plush bird approximately 13cm tall with real recorded bird song (bird tweeting)
Bird - water bird whistle 5cm - add water and blow (bird tweeting)
Bird - big feather approx 26cm long (stroking with bird feather)
Sun - yellow scarf 60cm x 60cm (sun shining)
Alarm clock - metal musical triangle 13cm high with beater (alarm clock ringing)
Cup of Tea - tealeaves in organza bag to waft (mmm nice cup of tea)
Cup of Tea - enamel cup 6cm high with metal teaspoon (stirring tea)
All the objects are in labelled zipped bags which fit into an A3 zipped bag together with the Story Sequencing pictures.
Recommended for 1:1 and small group work.
