Picture Resources: Lotto & cards + picture cards + tips to help your child understand and use words for animals, feelings and on/under.
These resources are designed to be used with the ‘Room on the Broom’ book (NOT included with this pack), but all the activities can also be used without the book.
There are 2 lotto boards (backed with card and laminated), with 12 matching picture cards featuring characters and feelings that are shown in the book. The pictures are laminated in non-reflective plastic and held together with an elastic band.
The picture cards are of a witch with a cat, a dog, a frog and a bird, (as in the book), laminated in non-reflective Matt plastic and attached to a baseboard with Velcro dots, that are compatible with PECS products (Picture Exchange Communication System).
There are 2 place boards of a broom and a dragon with Velcro dots positioned ON the broom/dragon and UNDER the broom/dragon.
There is a pack of 20 picture instruction cards, featuring each of the characters in each place (e.g. the frog on the broom, the bird under the dragon), laminated in non-reflective Matt plastic and held together with an elastic band.
The resources are designed to help children understand and use language at the 1 word level for feelings, animals, and on/under (Who’s SCARED?, where’s the DOG?, who’s UNDER the broom?), at the 2 word level (put the FROG ON the broom; where’s the ANGRY DOG?), and at the 3 word level (put the WITCH ON the DRAGON, put the BIRD UNDER the BROOM).
They can also be extended to support understanding of ‘FIRST/NEXT/LAST’ when placing characters on the broom or dragon.
Finally there is an advice sheet, laminated in non-reflective Matt plastic, with tips for using the resources to boost your child’s speech and language, gained from my 30 years work as a Speech and Language Therapist (now retired).
The picture resources and advice sheet fit into an A5 zipped bag, labelled with a brown parcel tag ,for convenience and durability.
This resource extends the language-boosting potential of a great book, with picture games that work well for children with delayed language, for children with autism, and for children learning English as an additional language.
