“Room on the Broom” book + Lotto & cards + picture cards + tips to help your child understand and use words for animals, feelings and on/under.
The book is a brand new board book : it measures approximately 20cm x 18cm x 2cm and has 24 pages featuring a rhyming story about a witch, a dragon, and animals riding on her broom.
There are 2 lotto boards (backed with card and laminated), with 12 matching picture cards featuring characters and feelings that are shown in the book. The pictures are laminated in non-reflective plastic and held together with an elastic band.
The picture cards are of a witch with a cat, a dog, a frog and a bird, (as in the book), laminated in non-reflective Matt plastic and attached to a baseboard with Velcro dots, that are compatible with PECS products (Picture Exchange Communication System).
There are 2 place boards of a broom and a dragon with Velcro dots positioned ON the broom/dragon and UNDER the broom/dragon.
There is a pack of 20 picture instruction cards, featuring each of the characters in each place (e.g. the frog on the broom, the bird under the dragon), laminated in non-reflective Matt plastic and held together with an elastic band.
The resources are designed to help children understand and use language at the 1 word level for feelings, animals, and on/under (Who’s SCARED?, where’s the DOG?, who’s UNDER the broom?), at the 2 word level (put the FROG ON the broom; where’s the ANGRY DOG?), and at the 3 word level (put the WITCH ON the DRAGON, put the BIRD UNDER the BROOM).
They can also be extended to support understanding of ‘FIRST/NEXT/LAST’ when placing characters on the broom or dragon.
Finally there is an advice sheet, laminated in non-reflective Matt plastic, with tips for using the resources to boost your child’s speech and language.
The picture resources and advice sheet fit into an A5 zipped bag, labelled with a brown parcel tag ,for convenience and durability.
This resource extends the language-boosting potential of a great book, with picture games that work well for children with delayed language, for children with autism, and for children learning English as an additional language.
