The Colourful Semantics Baseboard is A4 size and has a box for placement of 1 of the story pictures, and boxes underneath for placement of a colour-coded sentence strip. There are 2 strips with written prompt questions on each coloured box: subject(orange ‘Who?) - verb (yellow -‘What doing?’- object (green - ‘What?’) and subject-verb-place (blue -‘Where?’). There are 26 colour-coded pictures to place onto these strips: 11 x subjects, 9 x verbs, 2 x objects and 4 x places.
These resources are designed to support children to sequence the events of a story, and to make 3 word sentences to describe each stage of the story.
All the colours are taken from the most recent and widely-used ‘Colourful Semantics’ theory.
Highly recommended for children with delayed language and children with autism.
