“You can’t take an elephant on the bus” book + picture symbols + tips to help your child understand and use more words related to transport and animals.
The book is a brand new paperback, measures approximately 10” x 11”, and has 26 pages featuring a range of animals travelling in different vehicles, with rhyming text.
The photo symbols are of a tiger, a crocodile, an elephant and a giraffe, all laminated in non-reflective Matt plastic and attached to an A5 baseboard with Velcro dots, that are compatible with PECS products (Picture Exchange Communication System).
There are 3 place boards, measuring approximately 7.5” x 5”, of a car, a train, and a red bus, and a 4th place board of a rollercoaster - all laminated in non-reflective Matt plastic and backed with card for durability.
There is a pack of 12 photo instruction cards, measuring 4” x 3”, featuring each of the animals in each of the vehicles (e.g. the tiger in the car, the giraffe on the train), laminated in non-reflective Matt plastic and held together with an elastic band.
The resources are designed to help children understand use language at the 1 word level (where’s the TIGER?) and the 2 word level (put the TIGER in the BUS).
Finally there is an A5 advice sheet, laminated in non-reflective Matt plastic, with tips for using the resources to boost your child’s speech and language, gained from my 30 years work as a Speech and Language Therapist (now retired).
The picture resources and advice sheet all fit into a sturdy A5 zipped bag, labelled with a brown parcel tag ,for convenience and durability.
This resource extends the language-boosting potential of a great book, with picture games that work well for children with delayed language, for children with autism, and for children learning English as an additional language.
